I have a 66 year old WF who I performed a submental liposuction and platysmaplasty with division of the platysmal bands almost 1 year ago.  Approximately one month post op she developed twitching of her facial musculature bilaterally which appeared to be mostly from the zygomaticus.  This improved slightly over several weeks.  I referred her to a neurologist who had an MRI scan done which showed no related abnormalities.  She is now 1 year post op and still has twitching.  She was offered Botox injections to the twitching areas by the neurologist as well as me but she declined.  If this was related to the surgery, wondering if it is a muscle imbalance.  Curious if anyone else has had any comparable experience.

Many years ago before I did fat grafting I placed a shell malar implant transoral.  That involved blind sweeping with an elevator.  Within a few months he developed twitching in the zygomatic area that was bothersome to him but fortunately he got used to it since it never went away and he was happy with the implants.  I feel confident I had to stretch some facial nerves to have this happen.
