Early career solo plastic surgeon here in a high cost-of-living/doing-business location...looking to optimize surgical resources without breaking the bank...think that Quad A is best bet for highest quality office operators guidelines, so thinking of pursuing that within a new office location/opportunity...the questions for those of you that have navigated Quad A accreditation:

    • What are the main "big picture" items you have to have in place BEFORE moving into the location you are trying to develop? Ie, things that can't readily be modified later
    • Is level B "worth it" if accreditation is not required and your state doesn't require licensure unless you are doing general anesthesia? Ie, what does it really "get you" to get Quad A for moderate sedation cases (level B)?
    • At the end of the day, what are the REAL cost and time totals for Quad A accreditation? I've heard anywhere from $50k and 6 months to $2 million and 3 years. I know this will be somewhat location-specific, but need a more realistic picture in order to move forward

    Appreciate anyone's insights! Thank you.

    I can't speak to level B.

But for general anesthesia,  interior build out for a surgery center is around 400 a square foot. Probably only 90 days for the accreditation process paperwork is my guess but not quite there yet.
