For the pneumo boots i assume you mean DVT prophylaxis? We previously used the standard OR devices which were plug-in. Now we use VenoPro SCD's which are battery operated. They are rechargible so we keep it charged between patients. It is much less cumbersome in the OR not having cords and tubings. Also, for my DVT at risks patients, particularly with Abdominoplasties, I give them to the patient to use at home and keep. They are instructed to use them continuously even when ambulating (battery operated/no cords) except when showering. Once they are more ambulatory, usually after 7-10 days minimum, they can stop using them, but many of the patients tell me they like the massage feel so they use them longer.
